Be Unbothered

Some of the best advice I’ve ever received was this:

“Don’t sweat the small stuff…and it’s all small stuff.”

When I started my externship after I finished my Medical Assistant program 11 years ago, I was mentored by a woman named Ms. Norma.

Now Norma was smart. She was encouraging. She got her work done, knew her patients, was phenomenal with the physicians, and was a wonderful teacher. I’m not sure how long she had been a Medical Assistant before I met her but one thing about this woman, was she did not sweat the small stuff. I never saw her make a mistake but I made plenty. Any time that I did, she would say to me in her New England accent, “No worries. Don’t sweat the small stuff and honey it’s all small stuff.”

I have carried that advisement through the years in multiple areas. Not only has it helped me in my career but also in my marriage, training my children, in my education, and of course writing. When I make a mistake or fall short, I have learned not to sweat the small stuff cause really, it’s all small stuff!

We cannot make every issue, a major issue. Everything does not have to be a level 10 crisis! Ever get so worked up and worried that give yourself anxiety, make yourself sick, or end up depressed because you messed up? Stop it! We cannot dwell on the past or when we made a bad choice because there is simply no changing it. We should not magnify the areas where we are weak but we can work hard and allow God to work in us, to improve them. We are to understand that no one is perfect therefore we should expect ourselves to have some flaws. Ain’t nobody perfect but Jesus but remember, He is perfecting that which concerns you.😁

We have got to grow to a point of being unbothered by every thing, every person, every rumor, every lie, every mistake, every mishap, and every shortcoming. Dwelling on these things robs us of the joy we are given each day in Christ. Rather than complaining about the small stuff, rejoice about your blessings! Rejoice because you are breathing! Rejoice because each day is filled with new grace and mercies.

Be unbothered by the things that don’t matter and remember, don’t sweat the small stuff…cause it’s all small stuff!

“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You are His!

“But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Do you know that you have the God that created all things with the greatest power in the universe on your team? He has washed you clean as snow forever and then some. When He picks teams, He’s calling you every time. You belong to God!

Let me break down this verse…

God who formed you knows everything about you. He knows your fears and your dreams. He knows your plans and aspirations. He knows your thoughts and why you move the way you do. Nobody knows you like God does. He’s your husband, your parent, your best friend, and your guide.

He knows you intimately and He wants you to know Him.

So since y’all (Abba Father and you) know each other so well-you can trust God when He tells you to be fearless. Anytime that you experience fear, know that that that spirit is from the enemy. God doesn’t give a spirit of fear but instead gives one of love, power, and a sound mind. He wants you to bind fear and loose faith. Speak the living Word fearlessly!

God says you are redeemed. Not may be redeemed, not will be redeemed, but ARE redeemed present tense! You are never anything negative that the world calls you. Any mistakes that you made are no more. When you fall short you have the blood of big brother Jesus as your covering. That same blood is what washes you, forgives you, and protects you.

You belong to God. Your salvation is not sometimes. You belong to the God who is Alpha and Omega! The unchanging God of Israel, Abraham, Deborah, Noah, Esther, Rahab, Joshua, Peter, Paul, and David. If He did it for them-He will surely do all things for you. And hasn’t He already? Look back at your life and just remember those times when you thought you weren’t gonna make it. Didn’t God show up? Didn’t He hide you in His tabernacle? Didn’t He reach for you when no one else would?

How blessed you truly are my friend. You serve a mighty God. Be encouraged, stay encouraged, and encourage someone else.

Your God is awesome!!

Rest for the Weary

There is an outcry in the body of Christ and in this world for the gift of peace. That thing that settles/clears your mind, helps you relax, and takes your fears away. Maybe your peace is a bubble bath with lavendar oil, a glass of Merlot, and Sade’. Do you find your peace lifting weights?  Maybe going fishing at 4 am? Maybe your peace is riding in your car listening to Boosie or Tye Tribett with a bag of Skittles. Maybe your peace is working in your vegetable garden. Maybe peace for you is a massage or getting your hair done. Someones peace may a long run or a nap after a stressful day or time  in your war room.

My brother, my sister, whatever brings you your peace, there’s  nothing wrong with going there cause God knows your heart. Judgement free…let me invite you to meet Peace Himself.

Jesus Christ says to cast your cares, burdens, worries, anxieties, stress, fears, and troubles on Him. He cares about you! Once you’ve died to self you can live for Him and that life gives you brand new strength. See, a life in Christ should not be draining, overwhelming, hectic, or busy. This life, this grace, this PEACE, gives you energy. It rejuvenates and invigorates you. You can feel still and calm right in the midst of your headaches, storms, or trouble. Cast your cares on God. The reason you feel so much stress is cause you’re trying to figure it out yourself when really you need to let go and let God. Invite peace in and kick stress out. To be honest, the peace you will find in a relationship with God surpasses all the other ways you seek to find peace. When you are feeling lost, remember this: God is standing in the same spot you left Him, drawing you near…calling your name…waiting for you to accept His hand. You can seek peace in all other things but there is no peace like having the Prince of Peace for yourself.

“Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.”

II Corinthians 13:11 NKJV

You are blessed!

The blessing of the Lord is upon you! See that glow on your face? The sparkle in your eye? That quiet confidence you have and that endless peace? The “get up and get it” attitude and the tunnel vision you did not acquire on your own.  Your latter days are better than your former days my friend. Although you’ve been through the storm, the valley, and the fire…God brought you through because He has a plan for you! Have you forgotten your God is full of grace and mercy? Have you forgotten how good God really is? He sent a Savior to help you, to restore you, to redeem you, and to die for you. For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die for us, so that we could accept Him and have everlasting life. Now I don’t know about you but the only person that even comes close to giving their lives for us is our mother but how many know someone that died and rose again for you? Things could be worse and we often replay the bad in our minds, but what if we started replaying the good? Make a list today of all the awesome things God has done for you and count it all to joy.  You could be dead but the Lord saw it fit that you rise this morning and for that (plus much more) let’s thank Him! 👏💃😆
“You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God: Your towns and your fields will be blessed. Your children and your crops will be blessed. The offspring of your herds and flocks will be blessed. Your fruit baskets and breadboards will be blessed. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed. The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven! The Lord will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. If you obey the commands of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, the Lord will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do. Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord , and they will stand in awe of you. The Lord will give you prosperity in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you, blessing you with many children, numerous livestock, and abundant crops. The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them. If you listen to these commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom.”-Deuteronomy 28:2‭-‬13 NLT
Sometimes you gotta be like David and encourage yourself. Other times you need a friend like me to come in and remind you that…You are BLESSED!!!

Praise is your weapon!

“Let all that I am praise the Lord ; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord ; may I never forget the good things He does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”

Psalm 103:1‭-‬5 NLT

What a mighty and awesome God we serve. Aren’t we glad He gives us what we need? He grants our hearts desires. He withholds from us what will hurt us. He protects and provides for us. He heals and delivers us. He lifts us up and gives us life.

Don’t we all owe Him a praise? Not those cute little dance around for 2 minutes and sit down type praises but a praise that showcases we are truly grateful. One that you can’t control no matter what you do. A praise where the tears flow and you can’t control the dance and the deacon/deaconness can’t hold you and you run around and jump up and down and go all out ’cause you’re grateful! A big Christmas morning type praise. A “we made it out of Egypt” type praise! A “welcome to the Promised Land” type praise! A “I been through the fire like the Hebrew boys but I got out” type praise! A “they threw me to the lions but God spared me” type praise! A “my body sick, I lost my family, I been suffering and I’m questioning God but I will trust you like Job” type of praise!!!!

Have you prayed about the situation as much as cried, talked, vented, or worried about it? Are you worrying when you should be trusting God? Do you trust Him with every area of your life or just what you have been unable to bring forth? Have you tried praising God??

Instead of complaining, just start praising. Right in the middle of the valley, without sunshine, feeling desolate, desperate for change, and need some water real quick, you gotta praise God NOW! The enemy gets confused when you start to praise God and God surely gets excited when you start to call on His name! The devil gets mad when you sidestep his confusion and declare that “God is not the author of confusion but of peace”! God rises up and runs to help you when you praise and worship! He is attentive  your voice and He listens for it. Start to declare the Word back to Him, He loves that! Start to dance and shout for what He is going to do while you worship Him for what He has done and is doing right now. Our God is awesome and we have to start thinking that way. Our God can do the impossible lets ask Him for the impossible, expecting Him to bring it forth. We walk by faith and not sight! We are overcomers. Let everything that has breath praise our God in Jesus name, Hallelujah and amen!

Sister, where is your faith?

“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.”-

James 1:5‭-‬6 NLT

My sister. I call you “sister” because you are my sister in Christ Jesus. My sister who is joint heir. My sister in faith. My sister because our Father is God Almighty. You are my sister that I have prayed  for. My sister who I go to God on behalf of! My sister who I rejoice with and whom I also mourn with. My sister who can call on me. My sister  who I hope the best for. I call you “Sis” for the right reasons and it is with deep love that I say this tonight…stop doubting God.

Some of you have asked God for wisdom. Some for discernment. Some for deeper faith and others understanding. Another for wisdom and knowledge. Some for gifts of Holy Spirit. Another for financial freedom. Some for a breakthrough. Some for a raise. Others for a house. Someone for a baby. Some for healing. A few for a husband. One or two, an education. Someone for reconciliation. Another for the ability to forgive.

My sister, you have asked God and He has given by your faith. Don’t double back. Don’t second guess. Don’t doubt. Don’t stumble. Don’t waver. Don’t lose hope. Don’t grow weary. Don’t faint.

Being double minded creates storms, roller coasters, up and down emotions creating turmoil and chaos. It is uncertain like waves as the Word says.

Faith in God brings peace, joy, and stability.

Will you believe God when Isaac takes years to manifest…?

Or will you create an Ishmael in impatience?

The choice is yours.

Little girl…GET UP!

He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!” ).

Mark 5:41 NIV
Rise, shine, and be great woman of God! My sister I say to you, “Get up” and be who God has called you to be. Get up and give God His glory! Get up and beckon the people to Jesus. Get up, though you have fallen. Get up, even if you have fallen repeatedly. Get up and show your sister that she can get up too. Get up and share your testimony, someone is getting saved because of you. Little girl, get up and rebuke the enemy. Get up and resist him cause then he’s gotta flee! Get up and speak to the elements. Get up and speak the Word. Get up and preach the Gospel, no matter what the people say they heard. For light shall overcome darkness but you must be willing to get up! Get up because the day is new. Get up and thank God that He woke you. Get up, you’ve got a job to do. Get up and work cause Gods plan includes YOU. Get up little girl and be who they said you could never be. Get up and thank the Lord…for He is worthy and has set you free. Get up for you have been delivered, you are healed through His stripes and blood. Get up and do what sounds crazy, like Noah did before the flood. Get up and face your destiny, it’s getting closer each and everyday. Get up and trust your Father little girl, for He shall surely make a way. Get up and let God use you Queen, you are His image through and through. Get up little girl, have faith in God, He sent His Son to die for you. Little girl, be ENCOURAGED, your Father loves, protects,  guides, and provides. Even when you are down and ashamed, He seeks you out, no need to hide. Little girl, dry your eyes, your suffering is over, the past is no more. Little girl, no more regrets, God has opened for you, a brand new door. The Lord forgives, so I say little girl get up and rise again. Your Father wants you to know that in Jesus, you will always have a friend.
